A legal Nova Scotia online casino, and the same goes for New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador, means Atlantic Lottery (ALC), the corporation the four provinces own together. The age is 19+ across the region and none of the four has a private online market. Sites without an ALC connection are offshore.
One lottery corporation, four provinces
Atlantic Lottery is jointly owned by the governments of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. It sells lottery, sports betting through Pro-Line and online casino games where each province has approved them. Each province keeps its own regulator and policy body, so the rules overlap but are not identical. The common legal basis is the Criminal Code: only a province, alone or together with other provinces, may conduct and manage lottery schemes, which is what allows four governments to share one operator.
| Province | Policy body or regulator | Age | Free help line |

| New Brunswick | NB Lotteries and Gaming Corporation; Gaming Control | 19 | 1-800-461-1234 |
| Prince Edward Island | PEI Lotteries Commission | 19 | 1-855-255-4255 (24 hours) |

What Atlantic Lottery offers online
ALC’s online channel covers lottery tickets, Pro-Line sports betting and casino-style games. Its website could not be reached during our research, so we cannot give a complete product list per province, and launch dates for online casino in each province conflict across secondary sources; we leave them out rather than guess. One date is confirmed by government: ALC’s online gaming platform became available in Newfoundland and Labrador on 12 June 2023. ALC also sells a bingo-style instant-win game online, with a $2 wager on four cards, 45 balls drawn and a stated theoretical payout of 63%. Our Atlantic Lottery review sets out what we could verify.

New Brunswick, PEI and Newfoundland online casino questions
People in each province search for a New Brunswick online casino, a PEI online casino or a Newfoundland online casino as if the provinces had separate markets. They do not: in all four the provincial option is ALC, and the private market that exists in Ontario and Alberta has no equivalent here. The age deserves a closer look. Nova Scotia’s Atlantic Lottery Regulations require reasonable steps so that under-19s do not take part in online games. PEI’s Lotteries Commission Act bars ticket sales to anyone under 19. In Newfoundland and Labrador we found 19 written into the video lottery rules, and in New Brunswick only in secondary sources, so treat 19 as the working age and expect an ID check.
Pro-Line and single-event betting in the region
Pro-Line is ALC’s sports product. After federal law allowed single-event bets from 27 August 2021, ALC added them in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and PEI, and Nova Scotia followed on 11 February 2022, according to trade press. ALC is also one of the parties in the Supreme Court of Canada case on Ontario’s plan to share online poker and betting pools with players abroad, heard on 7 October 2026 with judgment reserved. Our single-event betting explainer covers what changed in 2021.
Offshore casinos in the Atlantic provinces
Offshore brands take players across the Maritimes and Newfoundland and Labrador without any provincial licence. For comparison with ALC, the table includes three that hold a Malta Gaming Authority licence according to our research. No province licenses them, and our verdict on each is caution.
| # | Operator | Score | Standing | Regulator | Interac | In your province |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 81 Recommended | Provincial site | Atlantic Lottery Corporation, owned by NB, NS, PEI and NL | Not stated | - | |
| 2 | 54 Caution | Offshore (no provincial licence) | Malta Gaming Authority | Yes | - | |
| 3 | 54 Caution | Offshore (no provincial licence) | Malta Gaming Authority | Not stated | - | |
| 4 | 53 Caution | Offshore (no provincial licence) | Malta Gaming Authority | Yes | - |
Playing at one of these sites means stepping outside the regional system. ALC’s responsible gambling tools, provincial oversight and complaint channels stop at its own platform. A dispute over a payout goes to a regulator in Europe or elsewhere. No court has ruled that playing offshore is an offence for the player, and we do not suggest it is; the point is the missing protection. The Kahnawake guide explains another licence that Atlantic Canadians often see in casino footers.
Draw games sold by ALC
ALC sells lottery tickets at retailers and online. Lotto Max, Lotto 6/49 and Daily Grand are national games, so the winning numbers are the same across Canada. Which add-on games ALC sells, and their prize tables, we could not confirm from ALC’s own site. Recent national results are on our lottery pages as a convenience; confirm any ticket with ALC or a retailer.
Help lines in the four Atlantic provinces
Each province runs its own line. In Nova Scotia, the Provincial Mental Health and Addictions Crisis Line answers at 1-888-429-8167, 24/7, and Nova Scotia Health’s gambling page directs people there; non-crisis intake is 1-855-922-1122 on weekdays. New Brunswick’s Gambling Information Line is 1-800-461-1234. The PEI Gambling Support Line is 1-855-255-4255, free and open 24 hours. In Newfoundland and Labrador, call 811 for the free, confidential Gambling Help Line. Our responsible gambling page covers limits and self-exclusion.
