Some links from our reports to gambling operators are affiliate links: if you follow one and open an account, the operator may pay us a commission. You do not pay anything extra, and the commission never changes a score, a verdict or the order of a ranking. This page explains where these links appear and the limits we set on them.
How affiliate links work here
Operator buttons on our pages lead to a short redirect address on our own site, which then sends you to the operator. That lets us keep links up to date and stop sending readers to a brand whose status has changed. Some of those redirects carry an affiliate code; some do not. Either way, the button looks the same and the review text is the same.
Where we do not place operator links
- No operator buttons on lottery pages, guides or trust pages like this one.
- No buttons for brands that are closed, do not accept Canadians or are linked to scam adverts.
- On offshore brand reports, a button may appear only after the section that explains the brand’s licence and the fact that no province licenses it.
Commission and scores are separate
Scores come from the five weighted criteria on how we rate: licence, payments, bonus fairness, product and player protection. Whether we have a commercial relationship with a brand is not one of them. A brand that pays commission can still receive a caution or avoid verdict, and many do. Crown sites and Ontario or Alberta licensees are presented as the regulated option whether or not we earn anything from them.
Bonuses and Ontario advertising rules
In Ontario, the AGCO’s standards bar public advertising of bonuses and inducements by registered operators outside their own sites and opted-in direct marketing. We therefore present offer details as neutral data in tables, with the terms that apply, not as promotional copy. Our iGaming Ontario guide explains the rule.
Questions about a specific link can go to the editors through our contact page.
Questions readers ask
- Do affiliate links cost me anything?
No. You pay nothing extra. Any commission is paid by the operator.
- Can a brand pay to rank higher?
No. Rankings follow the score, and the score follows the published criteria. Commercial relationships are not part of it.
- Why are there no buttons on some pages?
We do not place operator buttons on lottery pages, guides, trust pages, or pages about closed, non-Canadian or scam-linked brands.
