Each row gives the draw date, the five main numbers and the Grand Number. The data comes from the official results published by the lottery corporations, not from manual entry. If anything differs from what your lottery corporation shows, its result is the one that pays.

Daily Grand rules: five numbers and a Grand Number

  • A play costs $3 and has five main numbers from 1 to 49 plus a Grand Number from 1 to 7.
  • You can play up to 25 advance draws, according to the WCLC game page.
  • Draws are on Monday and Thursday. Sales close at 10:30 p.m. ET on draw day, and provincial cut-offs vary.
  • The Grand Number cannot stand in for a main number, and all matches must be on the same line.

Daily Grand is a national game sold by the regional corporations: OLG in Ontario, WCLC in the Prairies and the territories, Loto-Quebec in Quebec (where it is called Grande Vie on the results pages), and the corporations in British Columbia and Atlantic Canada. For the other national draws see Lotto Max and the lottery hub.

The two for-life prizes

Daily Grand is built around annuity-style prizes rather than a rolling jackpot. Matching all five numbers and the Grand Number pays $1,000 a day for life or a $7,000,000 lump sum. Matching the five main numbers without the Grand Number pays $25,000 a year for life or a $500,000 lump sum.

If several tickets win in either top category, the winners split that category’s lump sum. Because the top prize is fixed, there is no jackpot that grows between draws, and we do not publish prize estimates. The minimum term of the for-life payment is sometimes reported in the press, but we could not confirm it on an official page, so ask the lottery corporation if you need that detail.

Daily Grand odds and prize table

Odds below are per $3 play and are approximate, as published by WCLC and OLG. Where OLG gives a more precise figure, it is shown in brackets.

Match Prize Odds
5 + Grand Number $1,000 a day for life or $7,000,000 lump sum 1 in 13,348,188
5 $25,000 a year for life or $500,000 lump sum 1 in 2,224,698
4 + Grand Number $1,000 1 in 60,674
4 $500 1 in 10,112
3 + Grand Number $100 1 in 1,411
3 $20 1 in 235
2 + Grand Number $10 1 in 101
1 + Grand Number $4 1 in 20 (OLG: 19.7)
Grand Number only Free Play 1 in 12 (OLG: 12.3)

The chance of any prize is 1 in 6.8. Most Daily Grand prizes are fixed amounts, unlike the pool-based mid-tier prizes in Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49, so a $500 prize for four numbers is $500 whatever the sales were.

Add-ons: Encore in Ontario, Extra in the West

OLG lets you add ENCORE to a Daily Grand ticket in Ontario: $1 per play, a seven-digit number, 22 ways to win and a $1,000,000 top prize. WCLC offers EXTRA on Daily Grand, with a $250,000 top prize. The add-ons in Quebec, British Columbia and Atlantic Canada have their own rules; we did not confirm their prize tables.

Daily Grand claim period and how to check a ticket

Daily Grand is one of the few games where we found a written deadline. OLG states that Daily Grand prizes must be claimed within 12 months of the draw date, and the same applies to ENCORE. Other corporations set their own periods, so check your region’s game conditions.

To check a ticket in Ontario, use OLG’s Check Winning Numbers page or an in-store checker. In the WCLC region, the Lotto Spot app scans the “My Tickets” barcode, retailers have self-checkers, and a clerk can scan the ticket. Small wins are paid at retail within each corporation’s limits (OLG: under $1,000 depending on the store; WCLC: up to $100 at the counter). A top-category win needs a claim with the lottery corporation, where you choose between the for-life payment and the lump sum where both are offered.

Tax on a for-life prize

The CRA’s general rule is that lottery winnings of any amount are not reported as income, unless they are really employment or business income, and that income earned on the winnings, such as interest, is taxable. We could not confirm on an official page how the CRA treats each yearly or daily annuity payment from a for-life prize. Before choosing between the lump sum and the annuity, speak to a tax professional and read our lottery winnings tax guide.

Age and play limits

Gambling in Canada is 19+ (18+ in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec) for most products; OLG states 18+ for lottery in Ontario. Two draws a week makes it easy to spend more than planned on Daily Grand, so decide on a monthly amount in advance. Our responsible gambling page lists limit tools and help.
