"Offshore access" means the site accepts players there without a provincial licence: provincial rules and complaint routes do not cover it.

Two provinces, Ontario and Alberta, are where a Canadian can bet legally with DraftKings Sportsbook; we found no registration anywhere else. In both, the registered company is Crown DK CAN Ltd., the Canadian arm of DraftKings Inc. This DraftKings Sportsbook review covers the licence, what you can bet on, the casino and app, payments and how to judge a bonus.

Play is 19+ (18+ in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec), and DraftKings only accepts wagers while its location check confirms you are inside Ontario or Alberta.

DraftKings Sportsbook Canada: licence and company

DraftKings Inc. is an American company founded in 2012. Its Canadian business runs through Crown DK CAN Ltd. The founding year belongs to the American parent, not to the Canadian licensee that holds the provincial registrations. That company appears on the iGaming Ontario directory for three sites: DraftKings Sportsbook, DraftKings Casino and Golden Nugget Casino. The AGLC register of iGaming operators lists the same company for Alberta, where the private market opened on 13 July 2026.

So the answer to whether DraftKings Sportsbook is legit is yes, inside those two provinces. Registration with the AGCO and an agreement with iGaming Ontario oblige the operator to verify identity, offer safer play tools and follow advertising rules. In Alberta the operator needs AGLC registration plus a commercial agreement with the Alberta iGaming Corporation. For how the Ontario system works day to day, read our iGaming Ontario explainer.

Where DraftKings does not operate

Our research found no DraftKings site for the rest of Canada. A bettor in British Columbia, Saskatchewan or Manitoba uses PlayNow, Quebec has Mise-o-jeu, and the Atlantic provinces have the Atlantic Lottery’s sportsbook. Even inside its two provinces DraftKings is not the only regulated route. In Ontario, OLG sells PROLINE+ online to players aged 19 and over, and in Alberta the AGLC keeps running PlayAlberta, which offers sports betting including single-event wagers, next to the private operators. Comparing the provincial book with a private one on odds, limits and payout terms before you deposit is a sensible first step. We do not cover ways to reach DraftKings from outside its provinces. Location rules are part of the operator’s licence, and accounts used from outside can be closed.

Sports markets and how betting works

Reviews of the Ontario site describe a book built around North American leagues; we did not check the full market list ourselves. Since 27 August 2021, when Bill C-218 came into force, single-event bets are legal in Canada, so you are not forced into parlays. Our sports betting section explains odds formats, line movement and bankroll limits without picks.

If the book offers early cash-out on a bet, treat it as a convenience, not a strategy: the amount offered includes the book’s margin.

DraftKings sportsbook casino and blackjack

DraftKings Casino is a separate site on the iGO list, and that is where casino games such as blackjack belong. Searches for DraftKings sportsbook blackjack usually end there. In Ontario, Golden Nugget Casino is a sister brand under the same company; see our Golden Nugget review. For a list of brands that share an owner, our sister sites page groups them by licence holder. Poker under DraftKings in Ontario is not confirmed in our research.

DraftKings Sportsbook bonus and promo code

New-customer offers rotate and can differ between Ontario and Alberta. The current welcome offer listed by the operator: not stated. Code, if any: not stated. Playthrough: not stated.

Most sportsbook welcome deals in Canada pay out as bonus bets. A winning bonus bet returns the profit but not the stake, so a headline amount is worth less than the same amount in cash. Read the minimum odds, the expiry and the market exclusions. We explain codes in detail on the DraftKings Sportsbook promo code page.

Payments and DraftKings Sportsbook withdrawal

Reviews list Interac e-Transfer, Visa, Mastercard, PayPal and online banking for Canadian accounts. We did not check the cashier ourselves.

If verification at sign up was incomplete, the first cash-out can wait for identity documents.

The DraftKings app

DraftKings publishes iOS and Android apps for Canada, according to reviews and store summaries, with the same location check as the website. Installation steps and the difference between the sportsbook and casino apps are on our DraftKings Sportsbook app page.

Limits, self-exclusion and complaints

DraftKings must offer deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion in its account settings. Ontario players can also self-exclude from every regulated site at once through BetGuard. If a dispute arises, contact DraftKings support first and keep records; iGaming Ontario directs players to the operator before anything else, with the AGCO as regulator. In Alberta the AGLC regulates the market. ConnexOntario answers at 1-866-531-2600 and Alberta’s Addiction Helpline at 1-866-332-2322, both around the clock.
